Billy Mitchell serves as Senior Vice President and Director of Artists and Repertoire for Urban and R&B Music. Featured in Clint Eastwood's landmark film Bird as the pianist in Charlie Parker's band, pianist/composer/producer Billy Mitchell has worked with such artists as The Gap Band, George Benson, Randy Crawford, Gloria Lynn, Esther Phillips, Linda Hopkins, Eddie "Cleanhead" Vinson, Willie Dixon, Poncho Sanchez, Frank Morgan and Arnett Cobb.
He has has produced albums for vocalist Cheryl Barnes, saxophonist John Bolivar and vocalist Charly and recorded eight solo albums including Blue City Jam, Night Theme, Faces, In Focus, Live-All Night Long, Cats Pajamas, Passion and Never Give Up On Love.
The Billy Mitchell Group has performed at numerous marquee clubs and festivals worldwide including Birdland, The Blue Note, The Troubadour, The Monterey Jazz Festival, The Playboy Jazz Festival, The Heineken World Music Festival, The New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival and The Grande Parade du Jazz.
Billy Mitchell's unique style appeals to an eclectic audience. With judicious and tasteful use of blues and funk elements to augment his straight-ahead jazz repertoire, the resulting product allows a wide variety of ages and cultures to appreciate tunes generally reserved for jazz sophisticates.
