Braza

Braza (Bra'
sah): live coal; burning wood that ceased to flame; red hot coal or wood; to be
all in a blaze.
Moises Mercedes' passion for music began at age seven in Santa Domingo,
Dominican Republic, where he studied music with his uncle, Professor Andres Mercedes.
Moises later went to Puerto Rico to broaden his musical knowledge and strengthen
his gift to play and compose music.
In Puerto Rico, Moises played for two years with the popular group Gran
Peramide directed by Papi De Los Santos. Moises left Gran Peramide to
form his own band called La Union soon named one of the top 12 bands in the
Caribbean. In 1991, the group changed its name to Braza and moved to
Southern California.
