John Heussenstamm

"a guitar virtuoso"
John Heussenstamm (pronounced Hoy-sen-staam) has been described by Joan Baez's manager, Manny Greenhill, as a "guitar virtuoso". With more than 20 years in the music industry, John started off on the electric bass when he was seven. He has studied various styles: Jazz, from be-bop to modern; classical guitar; gospel; blues; funk; and classical Indian Sarod with Ali Akbar Khan. He has toured with Denise Williams, Lionel Ritchie, The Commodores and The Brothers Johnson. He was a founding member of The Surf Punks, a crazy, humorous bunch of satirists who record on Enigma Records.
Better known for his sizzling, searing guitar work in the blues/rock/jazz genres, John Heussenstamm has branched out to create gentler, more visual sound with his solo releases Cloud Hidden, Honest Living and Nameless Wanderer. Strong on melody, John's music reflects his empathy with many cultures and his eclectic musical tastes,
"Music can reflect any given situation, any emotion. Most of the music on these three CD's reflects dimensions beyond my everyday life - I can visit China within myself, I can be there in spirit."
"Fundamentally, music is spiritual... the more closely related to the heart music is, the more classic it becomes... it expresses something eternal."
