This recording is dedicated to our mothers,
Dolores and Maria, for their love and support from the beginning.
After listening to this album, I felt as
though I had visited Tropical Islands, Havana and Hollywood in less than an hour.
That's the musical image that Ilyana and her musical partner, Fred Ramirez can project to the listener on their debut
recording. Mi Isla Tropical contains a well rounded combination of original
compositions and highly creative lyrics. The dynamic vocal stylings belong to
Ilyana, who was born in Spain, raised in Cuba and later cam to Los Angeles via
Miami. Her incredible range of versatility is doubly enhanced by the impressive
strength in her voice, creating a combination of warmth and energy.
Co-producer, pianist, composer and arranger
Fred Ramirez has dedicated over 35 years to his
music. Proof of his extensive, innate talent can be definitely found here!
Listen to this Angeleno's wizardry as he plays piano on this track, Tengo Mambo Heat.
Fred's vibraphone playing adds the flaming spice that you'll find irresistibly
satisfying. The Orquestra Tropicana is composed of musicians from Cuba, Puerto Rico,
Panama, Peru and Los Angeles. They perform with honest, expressive musical
motivation. From Bomba, Mambo, Salsa to Merengue, you'll find it all on Mi Isla
Tropical.
